Thoughts on Being Maria

The protagonist in the film has a psychotic mother. A wealthy father who works as a famous actor. He lunches with Alain Delon. She is cast in a film by Bernardo Bertolucci at the age of 16 prentending to be 19. She is violated during the filming of Last Tango in Paris by Bertolucci & Marlon Brando.
During her press rounds, she tells her truth & that truth seems to have cost her. Additionally, the disco scene in Paris among richfolk seems to be fluent in heroin. She gets addicted to heroin. She begins a downward spiral that brings her near to rock bottom.
At the end of the film, she is doing press for another film & she looks ravishing. Like, better than she has ever looked considering that throughout most of the film she looks extraordinarily beautiful. Her face, the actor’s face, is a stunning work of art.
In my opinion, the film isn’t great. I was confused multiple times in multiple ways but what I do believe wholeheartedly is that being nicely & professionally photographed when you are young & beautiful is a pleasure unto itself. The exquisite beauty of this actor’s face is what remains with me days after watching the film. I don’t think that is the ultimate goal of the film.
